Let Go, Let Be, Let Come

by | Nov 2, 2016

This week’s Awake at Work micropractice “Let Go, Let Be, Let Come” invites us to let go of our fixed idea on what should be and to enter more deeply into accepting what is and embracing what is seeking to emerge. It requires a radical trust in life and in our capacity to meet each moment and what it brings our way. As we soften our defenses and loosen our grip we make ourselves available to receive and allow life to unfold on life’s terms.

There are times when the only thing left to do is to let go. We’ve shown up. We’ve given it our best. Now it’s time to let go into the current of life and trust what comes. If we hold on well beyond the time for letting go, trying to control the outcome we can be assured to drive ourselves and others crazy as well as potentially sabotaging our efforts and good work.  This applies to everything in our lives whether it is a project, a new business venture or a relationship. Learning to show up fully and then let go, let be and let come is one of the essential mindfulness practices for realizing our creative genius and aligning our lives with the greatest possibility.

We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.  — Joseph Campbell

Reflection
What is it time to let go of? How can you follow the flow of your breath, your sensations and emotions and not push the river? What is seeking to emerge in this moment? What do you notice?

Practice the art of allowing over this next week.  Drop the pressure of expectation and control and arrive fully in the present moment. Notice where you have opportunities to let go, let be and let a greater possibility come to you. Practice surrendering to the flow of the river rather than swimming upstream or attempting to control the course of things. It takes courage to find this deeper trust and flow. Practice and notice what happens.
